The Cabin and The Snowstorm

We stayed overnight in a rustic cottage in Grand Lake. We could have been in a cabin in Northern Michigan, an ice fishing hut in Minnesota or a dacha outside of St. Petersburg. There is a charm and comfort to a rustic place, as Ylvis illustrate in their song ‘Cabin’ https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=ua1FAlHt_Ys

It’s my own private pinewood Taj Mahal except for the shape and the size.

The town is the snowmobiling capital of the U.S., and looks like an old western town complete with wooden sidewalks. We had lunch at Sagebrush, which used to be the county jail. The view of the mountains from the Main Street is crazy beautiful.

Unfortunately we didn’t get a chance to snowmobile because of the blizzard that blew through on Thursday. We left earlier than we planned to get through Rabbit Ears Pass. The total amount of snow for this mountain pass on February 6 and 7, 2020 was 51 inches. We made it safely to Steamboat Springs where it snowed 15 inches during that time. 1. Maggie, enjoying reading your posts. Experiencing winter through your adventures. Sadly, there has not been any snow in MD. Natasha and Patrick say “Hi!” Hugs to All. Lana
